The Next Course – Food & Wine Pairing Classes

The Next Course is a tasting class of 3-5 recipes each week with an optional wine pairing, hosted in our beautiful new event space on Historic Main Street. Our chef will share new and different ways to use our oils and vinegars, as well as helpful recipe hints. You get the recipes to take home as well as a small gift of our products.

Summer Cooking Series:

August 9: SUMMER ENTERTAINING

  • Roasted Artichoke Bruschetta with whipped goat cheese
  • Tomato, Watermelon and Basil Salad
  • Grilled Pork Tenderloin with Pineapple Corn Relish
  • Orzo and Citrus Grilled Vegetables

Class starts at 2pm. Cost per person is $50 and the optional wine pairing is $15.

August 16: LATIN VEGGIE COOKING

  • Veggie Fajita Stuffed Sweet Potatoes
  • Grilled Vegetable Tacos with Pico De Gallo and Cilantro Avocado Lime Vinaigrette
  • Kale, Black Bean, Green Chile Enchiladas with Tomatillo Sauce
  • Vegan Paella

Class starts at 530pm. Cost is $50 per person and the optional wine pairing is $15.

August 25: FARMERS MARKET FINDS

  • Peach Gazpacho
  • Heirloom Tomato Crostini with Creamy Cucumber Dill Spread
  • Carrot and Zucchini Fritters
  • Zucchini Pasta with Shrimp & Arugula Pesto
  • Housemade Ricotta Honey

Class starts at 11am. Cost is $50 per person and the optional wine pairing is $15.

August 30: STEAKHOUSE SIDES

  • Strawberry Wedge Salad
  • Beef Carpaccio with Arugula
  • Creamy Potato Leek Gratin
  • Crispy Zucchini with Lemon Basil Aioli
  • Banana Cream Cheese Mousse

Class starts at 2pm. Cost is $50 per person and the optional wine pairing is $15.

Olive Oil 101 – The Basics of Extra Virginity

Everything you’ve always wanted to know about Extra Virgin Olive Oil, its history, fraud in the industry, the health benefits and how to taste. Class is approximately 1 hour and is held usually the first Wednesday of the month. Cost is $20 for one person, or $38 for two, and includes a free bottle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil!

Reservations are required. Please call 435.649.1400 to reserve your spot for our next class. Class start time varies by time of year.

Special Events

Reserve space and let us host a fun event for you!  We’ll create a fun tasting experience at our shop for you and your guests. We’ll organize the event package with you, including oils, vinegars, tasting sheets, recipes, and options (wine and hors d’oeuvre pairings). Everything is customized to your needs. We can arrange to have demonstrations of delicious creations and provide “take-home” recipes.

Meet the Makers of Pepperlane, Chili Beak, Amour Spreads, Millcreek Cacao, and more. We’ll have sample tables out with products that are made right here in Utah. Delicious Side Dishes for Easter

Mark your calendars, we are doing our March class a week early to focus on foods for Easter. The charge for the class is $20, and guests will receive a sampler set of products used in the class, as well as enjoy sampling all the food! Sign ups are available in store or via email at jessica@mountaintownoliveoil.com. Space is limited to the first 10 people to sign up for each location. Plan on at least an hour to go through all 3 recipes. Start time is 6:30pm both nights.

Tile Painting Night

We are partnering with local artist and instructor Sam Burt to bring a night of creativity and food to both our Gateway and Provo locations. Paint a tile in whatever style you choose, up to 4 tiles. Sam will supply the tiles and paint, and most important, the Know-How! We will provide some light snacks to help inspire your creativity. While at the store, stock up for your Thanksgiving feast. Cost starts at $14 for the first tile; add $3 for each additional tile. Prepay for your tiles on PayPal with this link:

Warm Winter Soups

We’ll make 3 warm winter soups during this cooking demo and demonstrate how easy it is to take basic soup recipes to the next level with herbs and spices and a few changes here and there. The charge for the class is $20, and guests will receive a sampler set of products used in the class, as well as enjoy sampling all the food! Life Long Learning at University of Utah

Sign up today for the Life Long Learning course “Olive Oil 101 – the Basics of Extra Virginity”. Everything you’ve ever wanted to learn about extra virgin olive oil, how to taste it, what makes a good extra virgin olive oil stand apart from other olive oils. Class will be held on February 20th at our Gateway location. Sign ups are available online at www.lifelong.utah.edu or by calling 801.587.5433.

Easy Entertaining

This 14232585_1182938031729188_2155642447234252638_ncooking demonstration will feature easy entertaining spreads, dips and tapenades. We will make 3 recipes in class, including a Portobello Mushroom tapenade, a roasted beet tapenade and a balsamic fig and caramelized onion tapenade. (Note, selection may change depending on availability of products). The charge for the class is $20, and guests will receive a sampler set of the oils and vinegars, spices and herbs used in the class, as well as enjoy sampling all the food! Sign ups are available in store or via email at jessica@mountaintownoliveoil.com. Space is limited to the first 10 people to sign up for each location. Since we’ve never done this before, estimate class will be about an hour, give or take. Start time is 6:30pm both nights.
