Seared Ahi with Blackberry Ginger Miso & Sesame Sauteed Bok Choy

Course Main Dishes
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon White miso
  • 1 teaspoon MTOO Blackberry Ginger Balsamic Vinegar
  • 2 ahi tuna steaks 6-8 ounces each
  • 4 tablespoon MTOO Everything Bagel Blend
  • 2 tablespoons MTOO Roasted Sesame Oil
  • 2 heads Bok Choy
  • 2 green onions
  • Japanese 7 Spice to taste

Instructions

  • Heat a large saute pan over medium high heat. Whisk together the miso and vinegar and put the Everything Bagel blend on a small plate. Smear the miso mixture over each of the tuna steaks and then press them into the Bagel Blend so it covers the outside of the tuna steaks.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of the sesame oil to the pan and sear the tuna steaks for 1-2 minutes per side so it is golden on the outside but still raw in the middle. Remove from the pan.
  • Add the last tablespoon of the sesame oil to the pan and heat until almost smoking. Place the bok choy cut side down in the pan and sear until just charred, flip and cook for a minute or two longer until the ends are bright green and the base is slightly softened.
  • Remove to a plate. Slice the tuna and place across the plate. Garnish with the green onions, Japanese seven spice and a little extra drizzle of the sesame oil.

    Hi Eric,
No not missing anything – just bad directions on my part. I updated the recipe. Basically, you can substitute Dukkah, which is a spice blend, for the Everything Bagel Spice Blend. I updated to indicate that you roll the bagel blend onto the tuna steaks. If you have dukkah (which we sell) you could use that instead. Hope this helps. This is a delicious dish. I hope you enjoy!

There are no instructions on how to make the “dukkah” and there are no instructions on what to do with the Everything Bagel Olive Oil. Am I missing something?
